This poster for the band Out of Sight's new album called "Where do we go from here?" was publised in the rock music magazine Kerrang, this is because it is also aimed at a rock audience being a rock band. It includes both the names of the band and the album as the key peices of text on the poster; the band's name being the largest text on the page to make sure it stands out to promote the band and capture the eye of their fans. By having the name of the album highlighted clearly on the page too, it makes sure that the reader recognised the name and will remember it when seeing it and recognise it, sticking in their mind. The other text on the page is a list of dates and locations of their concerts which is not a common feature of an album poster but means that it can promote their concerts at the same time; saving quite alot of advertising money.
The image in the back background not only represents the theme of the album and the songs on it, showing a small boy wondering around, not knowing "where [to] go", but it also refects the image used on the album cover to make sure they link and making sure they are recognisable. To add to this house theme, they also used the same fonts and colours; this is something I would like to keep the same throughout my video, digipak and poster to make sure these all link together aswell.
These are two adverts fitted onto one page so are both only A5 size and landscape, unlike the usual portait A4 adverts. Both of the adverts only have the names of the band and their album on them; short and to the point text. The beatsteaks album advert is mainly an image of the band, a common convention of adverts which the Feeder advert doesnt have, this instead has the picture as seen on it's album cover and also the character seen in the video, linking all three together just as I would like to.
I like the concept of both adverts; including only one colour on top of the black and white image, red being associated with rock music alot. This unfortunated would not be suitable for my advert as I wanted the whole image of the artist to be colourful and bold rather than simple like these adverts.
This advert is actually just an image of the album cover with a small amount of text underneath just to explain that it is out now. It covers the name of the band and album and does not need to say much else so I think that it is successful.
The whole advert is made up of pastel colours. This suits the theme of the of the album and the band as I think the style of music, alternative rock, is similarly simple and quite dull. It's also a unique look for an advert rather than an extravegant, colourful page for a pop artist. I would like to take inspiration from this as I would also like my advert to be quirky to suit the style of music but to bring in a more colourful look so will link to the theme of the video.
